- Naniwaya Okita (Okita of Naniwa-ya Teahouse) - Kabuki actor Date: Printed in 1980The beautiful woodblock print Naniwaya Okita (Okita of the Naniwa ya Teahouse) is by Kitagawa Utamaro (17531806). It portrays Okita, a waitress at the Naniwa ya, a teahouse located near the Nimon Gate within the grounds of Sens ji. Okita was renowned for her beauty and was one of Utamaros favorite subjects; he created a great number of works depicting her. A short comic poem called kyka is inscribed in the upper left of the image: (Resting at the
