Pair of Antique Gilt Buckles, Owls and Dogs: France C19th wall hanging cream embroidered silk ‘piano’ shawlDating from the mid 19th century, and from a specialist collection of buckles and buttons, a pair of gilt metal buckles or cloak fastenings. One pair in old silver or pewter gilt depicts a pair of owls, which fasten together with a hidden hook and eye on the reverse. The dogs, French bulldogs? are made in an old gold gilt metal and are slightly larger in size. Both date from the mid 19th century and are on their original sample card with hand written
