On Callahans last under that moniker, the tape hiss and obtuseness of the early records and the ORourke arrangements of the mid era records are pared back, leaving what I reckon is maybe his best collection of songs? (And also maybe the best Callahan couplet: The only words Ive said today Are beer and thankyou). Mitch
